What happens when 'happily ever after' has its own ending?
Jean Moreau had never truly believed in those words. 'Forever' was as much a fantasy as his fourth year at USC had been. It was as much a fantasy as Jeremy himself was. Dreams ended. The sun set. Nothing good lasted, so of course they didn't either. It was best not to hope.
Jeremy Knox did believe in those words, even after so long of having to live one day after another that tried to prove him wrong. Dreams could be made real. The sun always rose. They'd had such a good life and hard times never lasted forever. Hope was the best thing to hold close.
Three years after the End, Jean and Jeremy find themselves on the same professional exy team in Chicago. As past, present, and future collide, they have to confront old wounds and long silences to make the most dangerous decision of their lives: What is worth a second chance?

Summary
The soft music stops; there is no continuation this time. Neil finally knows he has been caught sneaking. Neil looks around to see where the music was coming from, then he looks up to the top of the stables to see an alcove where Andrew stares at his feet resting on the top step of an old wooden ladder.
“I know you said you moved a lot, but I’m pretty sure this is trespassing, and most countries don’t allow that.” Andrew nods at him, his voice ending in a bit of a drawl and rough as if he hadn’t been talking.
“That sounded good.” Neil replies as a way to distract from him being accused of trespassing.
Or: Neil, having nowhere to go on his season break, follows Kevin to his parents' house to attend their wedding. Where he meets Andrew Minyard, the man who lives across a field in an old farmhouse, and a legendary goalkeeper with horses.

“Hurry up,” Aaron says. “I’m leaving if you take too long.”
By the door, Kevin rolls his eyes, then does a two-fingered salute: flippant and easy, like if a smirk was a hand movement. Aaron can’t decide if he wants to strangle him or fuck him, so he huffs instead and tugs him down by the shirt, pulling him into a kiss.
Kevin’s eyes are warm when they break apart, smiling easy, the way Aaron would have thought impossible of the boy he met all those years ago when Andrew dragged a stray into their room and pointed at him, then Aaron, then Nicky, like, he’s ours now.
It strikes Aaron then, with Kevin just looking at him, face close, eyes warm, lips brushing. He still looks tired, but he grins once more at Aaron before ducking out the door, pulling it shut behind him.
Aaron stays exactly where he is, staring at the door in sudden dismay. This was not the plan. This was not remotely the plan.
“Well,” he says. “Fuck.”
Aaron Minyard thinks about Kevin Day, has feelings, and is extremely bad at dealing with them, mostly in that order.

Summary
A basic hurt/comfort fic for the AFTG Mixtape Exchange 2024 in which Kevin Day is a certified mess, but it's okay. He has his emotional support Aaron Minyard to lean back on. This is pure emotional hurt/comfort, a little fluff, and nothing substantial really happens. I hope you enjoy!
Excerpt -
So, Aaron realistically had simultaneously none and all reason for being surprised when he opened the door one rainy night to see Kevin Day standing dripping in his doorway. Pale faced and shivering, eyelashes coated in what he couldn’t distinguish between as tears or raindrops. A startled “Kevin” escaped Aaron’s lips as he pulled the taller man inside. He looked half dead. Scratch that, he looked like he had come back from the dead, his black inked tattoo a stark contrast to the ghostly look on his face.
Instinct had Aaron grabbing Kevin by the shoulders and pulling him inside. Kevin had no response at all.- Language:
