“I have to do something when I’m not in the field. If I don’t, all I think about is–” Leon's voice died in his throat, and he dipped the toe of his boot into a nearby puddle. “Well. You know.”
“Yeah.” Carlos’s voice was rough, his hand moving to rest on Leon’s good shoulder. He grasped the leather of his jacket and shook him a little. “I do know… which is why I’m here.” He used his free hand to pull out his phone again, flicking away from the image of Leon and to a different one with his thumb. “This screenshot is from a security camera in the Kijuju Autonomous Zone. I’m heading there right after this to investigate potential BOW smuggling, so BSAA West Africa pulled all the intel they could.”
Leon squinted at the sudden brightness of the device, then froze when he comprehended what he was looking at. “That’s… not possible,” he said slowly, breathlessly, a shaking hand curling around the phone so he could examine it more closely. “It can’t be.”
“It’s not proof, but it’s damn close,” Carlos said, allowing Leon to clutch his phone like a lifeline and letting go of his jacket, finally convinced he wasn’t about to bolt. “So… you coming with me?"

“Hey!” Chris all but snarled, getting into Leon’s space, the muzzle of the Silver Ghost pressed up tight against the body armor he wore. He didn’t seem to notice or care, reaching up to yank his nose back into joint–the tears in his eyes were there long before then, even if the pain was the thing that made them spill. “Would you shut up for a second? I thought–”
“I don’t give a shit what you think.” Leon holstered his gun–it had become obvious he wasn’t going to use it, despite the fact that he was practically blistering with rage and hurt. His fingers wrapped around the hilt of his knife instead… not the combat knife on his chest that Marvin had given him all those years ago, but the one at his waist that he hardly ever drew. The one from Krauser. “Get the fuck out of my face, Redfield. Or I’ll make you.”
“You’ll make me?” Chris repeated, incredulous. Asshole. He eyed the hand Leon had on his knife, features contorting. He looked a little older, a bit more rough around the edges, but still achingly familiar and aggravatingly gorgeous. “Go ahead. Because as pissed off as you are, I don’t think you will.”

Just as Chris reached the front door it was kicked inward, and he came face to face with the most gorgeous man he’d ever laid eyes on.
Said gorgeous man also happened to be aiming a gun between his eyes.
“Don’t shoot!” Chris exclaimed, more reflex than anything else. He knew there was a zombie hot on his heels but threw his hands up in supplication.
Gorgeous’s expression softened fractionally before blue eyes caught movement over Chris’s shoulder and hardened again. “Get down!”
