“If you win, I’ll tell you anything you want to know about me.” He knows I'm curious about him, about his past. I thought our games and endeavors might chip away at his hard outer shell, but so far, I wasn’t having any luck.
His gaze is hungry, confident like he already knows this will go in his favor. The nail in this coffin is the way he licks his lips.
“And if I lose?”
Qi shrugs. “You promise to be mine for the night.”
I laugh. We both know where this is going, where it has gone time and time again. “If this is some ploy to get me to ask a question about you—“
“No,” Qi interrupts. “Mine. Truly mine. Full control.” He pulls out a desk drawer, placing a small black box in the center of the desk.
“What’s in the box?”
“The key to your heart. Or my mind, if you play your cards right.” He gently places the shuffled deck of cards face down on the desk. “Hypnosis.”
My eyes roll incredulously. “Hypnosis? You can’t be serious.”
His eyes flick to mine, showing hard determination. With a straight face he says,”Deadly. Do you accept the terms of our game?”
