Outside, the world felt wrong.
A thick fog of silence hung over the street, broken only by the faint crackle of distant flames and a scream that made Stiles’ blood run cold. He stumbled slightly as he followed John and Parrish to the cruiser, his eyes adjusting to the glow of overturned cars and scattered belongings strewn across the road.
“Get in,” John ordered, and Stiles didn’t argue.
As the engine roared to life, Stiles couldn’t help but glance back at the house he’d grown up in. “Are we ever going to come back?” he asked softly.
John didn’t answer.
