As he starts to pick apart his appearance in the mirror, the intercom inside the bathroom buzzes and the pilot announces that the plane will start its descend towards Incheon Airport. He feels his stomach churn when he feels the plane slowly declining in height, a few hundred meters at a time.
It’s when he pulls his pants up and tries to make himself look presentable—pasting on the version of himself that’s safe to show—that he realizes something about his fear of heights.
Maybe it’s not the height he’s afraid of, it’s the falling.
