Wolfwood stares. He’d guess that she’s maybe six or seven months old, all baby fat and dimpled cheeks. She has the curliest hair that Wolfwood has ever seen, and she shouts in excitement at them. One of her hands is tightly fisted into Vash’s shirt. The other she waves at Wolfwood.
On an impulse well-ingrained from growing up in an orphanage, he takes her tiny fist in his hand.

A second look yielded more differences between Vash and the doppelganger, though subtle. The copy was dressed in a snug turtleneck- who even wears turtlenecks in June- with a black belt and ironed slacks.
If Vash was all careless wealth, wearing the most comfortable items in his closet in a parody of casual wear, this man was a billionaire model on a magazine, everything about his image carefully composed.
Vash didn’t look so leisurely anymore, though. His shoulders had tensed the moment he registered the man's presence, grin closing off into a tight line.
“Nai,” he said quietly, and oh right, he had a brother. Twin brother. Meryl was being stupid, assuming that he was a clone or something. “What are you doing here?”
“I’m here to see you,” the twin- Knives, Meryl remembered- said. “Why else would I come? For your friends?”

"What is this?" Vash asked curiously, looking up at the projector screen with interest. "A PowerPoint?"
"An intervention," Knives stated calmly, "on why you should break up with that deadbea- your…'partner'," he corrected (barely), "and preferably remain single for the rest of your life."
The background of the PowerPoint was colored in cold, crisp grays and blues. In neat, sterile text across the center of the screen were the words 'Why Your Current Relationship is Not Sustainable'. The title was the last slide Knives had managed to edit. For a majority of the draft, the PowerPoint had featured the title 'why your boyfriend is a fucking trilobite.

Knives sits Vash down for a very serious discussion on why he should break up with Wolfwood, including but not limited to his health habits, his lack of income, and the fact that Wolfwood likes to fuck him in public.
