Ekko doesn’t reply. In fact, he’s so silent that she wonders if she’s said something spectacularly wrong. Ekko, she wants to ask, but her bravery has deserted her in the face of his impossibly–bright eyes, too akin to the moon reflected in a night–dark lake.
“You do,” he finally whispers, “mean something to me.”

In this alternate universe, Ekko seems like just another normal boy, but he actually has a secret. He is the hero known as Firelight, bearer of the creation miraculous. And together with his partner Jinx, bearer of the destruction miraculous, they defend the city of Paris against the evil forces, Howkmoth.
Jinx is in love with the hero Firelight, who does not reciprocate her feelings. But Ekko is simply crazy in love with his childhood friend, Powder. What is the funniest thing about all this? Powder is Jinx. After a long day saving the world, Ekko is tired and while reciting a passage from Romeo and Juliet, he mixes up the names of Juliet and Powder. At night, Jinx pays a visit to this strange Romeo.
