The "market" as directors called it sat together in the same room every month lending and borrowing their actors like they were pieces of books in a library. One might want a more prolific actor, but had to lend someone else in turn leading up to many smaller guest performances all across the country. It was only due time until Scrooge decided to drop Joker and Mike's name on the table, sending them away for a few evenings.
It should be fine even with Scrooge refusing to arrange their stay properly. However, when Joker sees a familiar face among the actors, the play is not the only thing that goes wrong.
