Summary
Sirius ran away from home when he was 16 and has never looked back. Life has been good since; he's graduated from Hogwarts, lives with his boyfriend, works as a curse-breaker, and has a large group of good friends.
His life gets turned upside down when he gets a call to say that his parents have died and he is the appointed guardian to his younger brother.
Worst part is: Sirius didn't know he had a younger brother.

Summary
People have always told Regulus Black he looks just like his mother. Their dark, coal colored, tightly curled hair with a simple cluster of white strands that fell around their faces—though his mother was in the habit of straightening and pinning hers up—their thundercloud grey eyes, watchful and cold, their defined and angular jaws and high cheekbones, their pale skin, dusted in freckles like constellations. Regulus has always been the spitting image of his mother.
Even beyond their inexpressive faces and calculated scowls, they are alike in more ways than anyone knows.

Regulus Black never really held much hope for himself. He always knew he was a lost cause. He grew up being called the spare, a weakling, lonely and miserable. So really, it came as a shock to no one when Walburga and Orion Black pulled him out of Hogwarts during his third year and shipped him off to France. The change wasn't easy, and Regulus wasn't thrilled at the idea. Two years later, the first of September marked the end of his stint in France as began his fifth year. He'd left a miserable boy and come back even more broken.
James Potter had everything he could have asked for. A perfect family, an amazing group of friends, the captain of the Quidditch team, effortlessly smart, and good looking. He was the staple golden boy of the golden house. He had nothing to be upset about. Sure, sometimes the pressure got to him and he crumbled into it, slamming his fists into the wall until he saw his knuckles bleed. Sure, he got angry sometimes, enough anger to make him wake up at four in the morning and go out for runs until six so he doesn't tear the entire dorm room apart.
