Even with his eyes closed, he could picture Mydei’s frown. The arms around him tightened– just a miniscule amount, but enough to send fondness surging, like a particularly tumultuous ripple in a pond filled with stones.
“The best thing to do would be to forget about me. Let me go, and let the pain go.”
“I wouldn’t dare.”
“Not even ten years after I die?”

Phainon rolls his eyes at him playfully. But he leans closer and nuzzles his nose against Mydei's cheek. "Can I kiss you?", he asks.
The prince lifts a judgmental eyebrow and stares at the bloody ground they’re standing on. "Here?"
"Yes. I know it's not exactly romantic but I really want to kiss you right now, Mydeimos." Phainon pleads and nuzzles their noses together again.
It's hard to deny his Deliverer anything. So he doesn't.
