“Hello,” the boy says, looking no older than eight. He is absolutely swimming in Akechi’s clothes. His eyes dart between all of them, fear evident behind his gaze, and does his best to give them all a wobbly sort of grin. Akira has worked with enough children to know that it is a telltale sign of someone trying to appear brave.
“Hello!” Ann recovers first, her voice coming out too loud and forced. Akira frowns as the boy noticeably flinches, his eyes watering up. “What’s your name?”
The boy looks down at the black gloves that form a blanket over his small hands. “I’m Goro,” he says softly. “W-where am I? Are you Mom’s friends?”

The pulsation, as fast as a deer’s hooves hitting the forest soil, disappeared at once when Yoshiki finally slapped his hand away from his now deformed shirt.
‘Hikaru’ stood next to his friend, speechless and in wonder. Yoshiki’s ears were crimson under the ruthless sunlight.
The drumming came from there, from him. Suddenly it was a delicious sound, one of ecstasy and light. It made ‘Hikaru’ smile even more.

Ling blinked and reread the notification, feeling his view of Edward Elric warp around this revelation. He looked up at Ed and his throat suddenly felt parched.
Ed hadn’t said anything. Even though he obviously would have benefitted from one of his closest friends being a native speaker of Xingese, he hadn’t even mentioned that he had been studying the language for at least three months, if his Duolingo streak was to be taken as a metric.
His eyes flickered down to the notification and then back up at Ed. He probably had kept it a secret for a reason and Ling’s heart burned with the possibility of why.
Or: Ling's pining goes off the roof when he finds out that Ed has been learning Xingese in secret.
