Summary
The world is dust. As Cloud watches the lifestream die, it spits out a familiar face. Cloud manages to say something that changes Sephiroth's perspective on the world--he then endeavors to save it.
Thrown back in time, Sephiroth gives Shinra an ultimatum: shut down the reactors, or he will do it for them. In his spare time, he watches a young Cloud stumble through youth, aching for the man who would be his foil.
He dreams of true happiness, but finding it will be no easy task, especially with the planet breathing down his neck far more insistently than Jenova ever did. And Sephiroth, as ever, makes a far better villain than he ever did a hero.

Summary
When Cloud was sixteen and dreaming of becoming a SOLDIER, AVALANCHE blew up the Nibelheim reactor, scorching away any dark secrets that might be hidden inside.
Shinra responded by sending two SOLDIERs to burn down the nearest town, just to send a message. Cloud Strife watched his hero set fire to the only home he’d ever known and vowed that someday, he would get his revenge.
He spent most of the next five years in a mako tank as a willing test subject for a renegade Shinra scientist. Hollander had learned from his experiments in Banora and his time working by Hojo’s side. He was determined to get it right this time.
At twenty-one, Cloud infiltrated the SOLDIER Program, hiding the extent of his enhancements to look like an average new recruit.
He should have known Sephiroth would see right through him.

Summary
Sephiroth finally manages to kill everyone during one of his many returns from the dead. He is a badass, nearly all powerful god of destruction and completely bored out of his oh so perfect, superior mind now that he’s gotten his way. He starts missing his fights with his only rival and the entertainment they provided but cannot pull the other away from a protective lifestream for long or return him to life. So he decides with nothing better to do and ridiculous amounts of power, he’ll just return them to a point in time when they both were alive and Sephiroth had easy access to manipulate his favorite puppet.
Cloud is not happy to find himself a trainee/infantryman again and the other Firsts and upper management cannot for the life of them figure out why the “Great Sephiroth” is stalking the blond and acting like a bratty, bullying seven year old with his first crush.
