Summary
Emily needs the quiet. Peace, to distract her from what's lurking underneath the surface, waiting patiently for her control to slip so it can rear up to swallow her, and have her whole. She's never come around to figure out how to deal with what happened to her and the many ways in which she had happened to others – she'd just leave, move on, always on the run.
It is her lack of attachment that makes her so effective, she thinks. The conscience she can turn on and off like a switch. The irreparable damage Ian Doyle has done to her humanity.
The final nail Lauren Reynolds hammered into the coffin housing her soul.
A semi-retelling of the series with Emily as its focal character. Includes a grimmer take on Emily's backstory, mild to severe deviation from canon, as well as an alternate exploration of Emily's trauma and its many consequences. Updates sporadically.

Summary
