His hair, Kanata had noticed in silent fascination as the morning sun basked him, was dark chestnut brown transitioning burgundy and eventually to auburn red, especially towards the tips. His hanafuda earring passed her view, drawing her attention as if pulling more of her awareness into it.
It sways from the wearer's movement, the rays of the early rising sun streamed over its edges, making it glow with soft gamboling light. The hanafuda earrings gleamed at her.
In a split second, memories came flooding into her, utterly familiar yet unknown. It came to her in full blast, heavy yet soft, and strangely... welcoming, an endearing presence evoking various emotions within the depths of her.
The feeling of death, loss, beguiling sadness, fulfillment, guilt, and a mixture of more.
Being pulled between reality and stupor, she stared into blankness, her mind reeling into every detail she could collect but not completely able to do so.

Summary
To live and die as a hashira was one of the greatest honors. Even though she couldn’t decapitate a demon’s head, Shinobu still persevered and became someone her sister could be proud of. She even managed to form an intimate bond with one of her fellow hashira during her great achievement.
But that bond led to Shinobu facing a situation she could’ve never dreamed possible, and now the insect hashira was left facing a decision that either let her focus on revenge or focus on living the life her sister prayed she could have.
