Summary
Sometimes, Hinata thought there was something wrong with him, some kind of monster woven into his DNA that had corrupted him into something nonhuman.
He felt like he was on fire, like the sun had swallowed him whole and had spit him back out made of coal and flame, fragmented beyond repair. There was something inside of him, a force that pushed him to go-go-go, to never stop running, never stop feeling, never stop climbing until he reached the bloodied top of the cosmos.

Summary
Telling his mother he found his soulmate was the best and worst thing Tendou had ever done.
She’d been happy at first. “Ushijima is a wonderful young man,” she’d gushed. “Oh, Satori, I’m so happy for you!”
“Yeah, he’s pretty great,” Tendou said awkwardly. “I’m lucky to have him.”
Something about that statement must have sparked something in her, because suddenly her smile fell flat. “You are,” she agreed. “You are very lucky to have gotten him as a soulmate. I only wish he felt the same about you.”

Summary
Tobio was the one who came up with it. If they pretended to be each other’s soulmates, it would get both their teammates’ and their parents to stop worrying about it. It meant that their real soulmates would find out, but it wasn’t like they were planning to tell them the truth anyway.
“It’s better this way,” Tobio had said the night they made their promise. “We can’t ever be honest, but if we don’t give them an answer then they’ll never stop asking questions.”
“I wouldn’t mind being your soulmate, anyway,” Hinata said. “At least we know we won’t get rejected.”

Summary
“Chan,” Felix breathed, “you have to let me up. We have to get out of here.”
“If we hide they might leave,” Chan argued.
“You know they won’t, darling,” Felix murmured, reaching up a shaking hand to rest on Chan’s cheek. “We will be alright, Chan. For all our petty fears…”
“...we are not divided by the waves.”
It was an old poem, one that Felix quoted to him often. It steadied him. The gunshots drifted from the room, probably going further inside, but Chan could still hear breathing. He rose to his feet regardless, throwing himself and Felix behind a stone pillar a few feet away.
OR--
Chan, in a quest to cure his cursed husband, learns the power of his love for others, and learns to accept that love when it is mirrored back at him. (Or or, nearly 18,000 words of me putting Chan through hell and then fixing it)
