Credence thinks of being human, of having arms and legs, of molding the shadows into hands and fingers and toes. He thinks about the shape of pale shoulders, the slope of a scarred back, the veins under near-translucent skin, of bones and tissue, of muscle and blood. He thinks of bitter tears falling onto pale cheeks, following the path of sharp cheeks bones until they drip onto a bony clavicle. He thinks of legs connected to knees connected to ankles and then to toes. He thinks of dark hair, dark like the night, like shadows, like the agony consuming him. He thinks of being human, of being alive, of being contained in a cage of flesh and bone and blood and sensation.

Bruce knows it’s “China Doll” by Revlon and that it discontinued four years ago. He knows that Jeremiah has boxes of it from before its discontinuation, refusing to wear any other color by any other brand. He knows it tastes like rose oil and smears easily, especially on clothing. He knows it comes in a cute package with black and gold swirls lining the box. And most of all, he knows Jeremiah feels insecure without it on.

Tony knew deep down inside that Ultron reflected a part of him he didn’t want to see. A part of him that was ugly and dark, a part of him that wanted it all over, that wanted to stop having people to save, to stop almost dying, to stop constantly losing sleep over who he couldn’t save and what he couldn’t do.
A part of him understood Ultron’s reasoning.
After all, if you can’t fix something, why not just throw it away?

Akira gaped as Ryo’s skin melted away in a burst of blinding white light. Akira’s vision was flooded by it, and as he gasped, he breathed in the sheer power emanating from Ryo’s transforming body. It shook his bones and made his knees tremble. Everything was white, like Ryo’s clothes, like his hair, like his smooth, perfect skin.
The sight did something to him, something he couldn’t name. But it felt like a part of his skull was cracking open, releasing something he didn’t understand. Something brand new, completely foreign. It was dark, and powerful, telling him to kneel. To worship.
