The 118 finally learn why Buck is the way he is. Their theory of a cult or a conversion camp was way off. Somehow, though, the reality of being a demi-god isn’t much better.
Buck thought they’d be happier to learn he wasn’t part of a cult.

(i.e. The 118 all struggle with the revelation in different ways. Bobby crashes out learning the Gods exist, Athena’s still wanting justice for Buck’s dead childhood and if Eddie was worried about Anna being a nun, he has no idea how to cope with the literal son of a deity.)

“Sorry, but I think you’ve got the wrong apartment. No Percy Jackson here.” He shrugged, his face apologetic. When in doubt, lie. He didn’t want to deal with this, and he didn’t want to waste their time. He knew it probably wasn’t going to be this easy, but a guy could hope. He wished his mom was here to talk to them instead. Or hell, even Paul. But they were both at work. And Percy was home alone. Awesome.
The woman raised an eyebrow, like she was saying ‘really?’ without saying a word. The man’s eyebrows furrowed in what Percy could only assume was confusion. Lotta eyebrow movement here, folks.
“Now, Percy, lying to a telepath isn’t the smartest thing to do.” Oh great.

In a time where mutations are steadily becoming more common and superpowered individuals are quickly emerging, demigods are finding it much more difficult to blend in. The mist is no longer a reliable way to hide their mythological powers from mortals. And, of course, the first demigod impacted by this is our perpetual main character who never gets a dam break, Percy Jackson.

Summary
One eventful boat ride, a small family of two is swept into the sea of monsters when a violent, magical, storm suddenly appears. The too gravely injured mother and her young son end up washed ashore on the island of Aeaea where a particular sorceress finds the grieving child. Against her better judgement, she takes him in and trains him in her arts, hoping to create a kinder soul down the road like a man once taught her centuries ago.
