“Dana.” Her movements stilled as she placed her coffee cup down, her back still facing you.
“It’s nine in the morning, Ramos. Can we not do this?” You swallowed dryly as you placed your hands into your scrub pockets. You were grateful for the fidget you'd placed there to help calm your mind.
“I just want to talk. I’ve been trying for a better time, but we’ve been on opposite schedules and you won’t answer my calls. So if not now, then when because this is getting weird.” Your breathing picked up as you tried to keep your voice low. She still had her back to you as she gripped the counter.
“Will you please just look at me?”
“No!” Dana yelled as she abruptly turned to you. You jumped slightly and shifted in your spot. If looks could kill you'd be a goner.
