When Kafka appeared on the Astral Express, Himeko thought to herself that she was beautiful as ever. Even if the hologram couldn't possibly convey the magnitude of her everything, after so many years of being apart, it felt intoxicating to see her again.
But of course, Himeko was the Navigator of the Astral Express first and foremost. Not even Kafka, deadly, beautiful Kafka, could lead her astray from her duty.
Kafka had tried once. It had not worked, and it never would.
So she had demanded to know Kafka's intentions. Looked at the familiar stranger wearing her once-beloved's face, and pretended like they hadn't loved each other once.
Even after what she had done, Himeko still loved her.
