“I don’t know,” Hans mumbled. “Is there anything you’re not comfortable with?”
Henry had a hard time picturing ever being uncomfortable around Hans. Out of all the emotions he’d suffered since meeting him, that wasn’t one of them.
“I don’t think so. And you?”
Hans was silent for a moment, eyes fixed on the windshield. And then, just as Henry was about to return his own gaze to the scenery, Hans spoke in a low voice, barely louder than the music coming off the speakers.
“Can I kiss you?”
“Yes,” Henry said, the word escaping him before his heart had even had time to jump.
Hans finally glanced at him then, a small smile tugging at the corner of his mouth. His freckles popped against the rosy of his cheeks. Henry had always liked the color his skin took on sunny days.
Then, Hans grinned. “Eager, are you?”
And there it was. No, Henry couldn’t picture being uncomfortable around Hans. Exasperated, however, he had no problems imagining.

“So let me get this straight,” Henry said as he threw one leg over the bench, straddling it to look at Hans and effectively gaining his attention back. “I’m already your squire, your page, your escort, and your bodyguard, and now I’m to be your manservant as well?”
Hans grinned. “Come now, Hal. It’s an honor to be bestowed so many titles by your lord!”
Turned away from their traveling companions, Henry’s eyes shone with a playfulness that was only for Hans to see as he smirked. “Not sure that’s what I’d call it.”
Henry’s flush deepened slightly, dusted pink spreading to the tip of his elven-like ears. His dear squire always did look much drunker than he actually was. One sip of wine and he was already turning red.
Hans hummed and leaned a little closer. “And what would you call it, then?”

Hans could order him. He was Henry’s lord after all. Henry was his squire. Hans could, but that had never guaranteed results with his friend. And it was because Henry was his best friend above all that, instead of an order, Hans took a step forward.
“Please, Hal. Just one more day.”
You need rest, he didn’t say.
Henry softened, a smile tugging at his lips.
I missed this, just you and I, he didn’t say. And perhaps, perhaps Henry missed this too, for he took his own step closer to Hans.
“Alright, my lord,” Henry said, eyes gentle. “One more day.”
I missed you.
