Summary
Condensed summary: Caught between Flo's tiger trap, his dedication to his team, his nature to protect them, and a demon that blindsides him, Modo is stuck facing something he never imagined himself contending with: his own identity.
Longer summary:
Modo had learned a few things over the years:
1) When fighting angry, blind animals, it was usually best to stay out of the way.
2) Jett's policy was simple to understand: Don't be sorry, be better.
3) Most animals understand with their eyes. They were easy to fool. Those three cardinal directions had landed him on this new true north, and now he found himself in contention with the final notch missing on the compass: time. He only needed a bit more time to get all of this settled, to fix the crumbling stone in the foundation of what the Greenhouse stood for. The roots run deep, but they sought out the cracks.
So, he worked. And played. And rebuilt. He poured all he had into what he thought was stone but turned out to be sand...and the storms and the waves were coming roaring in. Time. He needed more time to figure this out, and time to beat the roots before they exploited that weakness.

Summary
To his credit, Will had rarely given more than a spare thought to the opinions of the Bigs he played against in regard to his size. Even with Mane's bullying, he had walked away unscathed - and that continued until one game flipped things on their head. It was only a quick moment, but it was all that it took to remind him that he was a goat in a world of animals at least twice his size.
The impact of the predator's move in that game had him still dwelling in the rain-dampened Greenhouse with an audience he didn't acknowledge at first. Modo waited until he absolutely had to intervene. When he finally did, a lesson on heart, courage, leverage, and control made Will so thankful to have such a friend on his side.
If nothing else, always remember: Fear gives people power over you. When you stand up to them, their size doesn’t matter anymore.

Summary
Between the lost game, the delayed flight, and the storm rolling outside, the melancholy in the hotel common room in Echo Gorge was palpable. With the lightning grounding their flight home, the twins would have to spend their birthday in this hotel instead of in their own house, and the wear of the game left all of the Thorns not really planning ahead for any celebrations.
Maybe, just maybe, Modo could find a way to share his joy of the rain and sun with them.
This is complete, unrelenting, random brain-dump fluff for the Thorns with our dear Modo as its instigator. This was originally intended as a chapter for "Castles in the Sand", but it felt more right to make it its own piece. Based on a child's fairy tale, a scene from Raya and the Last Dragon, and my deep belief that Modo is, at his core, a big sweetheart... for those who deserve it.

Summary
Provody is a traditional Eastern Slavic spring memorial for deceased relatives. Jett had no idea who exactly Modo requested the day off for, but she didn't question in giving it to him. After she mentioned it to the team it became clear that she wasn't the only one who had noticed his changed behavior, and slowly the reasons behind it came to light. Family lost bought family chosen.
Inspiration came from listening to a live recording of “Work Song” by Hozier while putting up some ranch fence posts.
Please be warned: this is a brain dump that I came up with, so depending on how this tracks it may or may not eventually be deleted. The contents within mention death, grief, and processing - but none of which are directly tied to the death of a main character.

Summary
Somehow or another he had managed to sling the tie he had through one of the safety bars on the wall and had caught its tail in his paws, the remainder of it wrapped shabbily but securely around the collar of his severely ruffled suit jacket. He had frozen mid-pull with his mouth wide open and pointed down (where he had intended to bite himself free), one eye focused over on the ostrich that was now holding a wing in front of her face to spare him her straining smile. The nictitating membrane blinked over his eye once, and then, without changing position, he sheepishly offered:
“Tie has captured Modo.”
Modo is a complete stranger to strict formal attire, and it takes a little pity from Jett and Olivia to save him from this fashion disaster. It was all lighthearted and warm until Jett could clearly see the signs of wear.
"Just how long are you going to burn that candle at both ends, Modo?"
This may be a lead-in to a multi-chapter, depending on how it lands.

Summary
This was just a normal practice, it wasn’t even a huge issue!
AKA Modo is a mix of Komodo dragon and Iguana, and he forgets to inform the team his tail comes off. Cue team thinking their resident wildcard player might die, miscommunication ensues, and the team learn more about reptiles than they knew before

Summary
Stowing away on a ship to a city you'd never been to, in a country you didn't know anything about, wasn't a very good idea, in Modo's humble opinion.
He did it anyways. And maybe it took him a while to find his place, but he got there. And he couldn't be happier with where he ended up.

Summary
Its been a solid five months since the thorns last secured their place as champions and almost a month since the new season began.
The team is as strong as ever, with great moments in and outside the court. Jett works to earn her place as the role model and advisor of the team, Lenny continues to support and be supported by everyone, Olivia works hard to de-attach herself from social media's hardest critiques, Archie can now find some time for himself as there's new uncles and aunties willing to help him and his daughters out, Will's becoming the core of the team's spirit, and Modo...
...wait, has anyone seen Modo?
--------
Now that the team takes a moment to think back, Modo's been acting different for a hot minute. Its not a bad change! they've subconsiously become accustomed to this much calmer, chatty, and not any less expressive and physically affective Modo. However, when he begins to suddenly become busier, miss practice, and be as if not MORE invested in his phone than Olivia, it becomes hard not to notice.Bookmarked by Sehmti
