Vi begins her travels in search of her sister Jinx. She has to do this. She knows she does. Caitlyn knows she does. That doesn’t stop her pining girlfriend from doing everything in her power to entice her home through their letters. At some point, they stop being merely papers that exchange information and become something a little bit more raw and a little bit more longing.

Every month, Vi disappeared from the mansion like clockwork during the full moon. It was dangerous, she said. It was deadly. It tore Caitlyn to pieces. When literal lethal hail rained outside, she finally convinced her to stay. They compromised with the bunker below. Caitlyn hated herself as the gate clanged closed and the key clicked close, but that was the terms of their agreement. Now, each moon, they endured the experience together, until one day, Vi broke free.

Summary
In the days and weeks after the battle, Vi and Tobias stood vigil beside Caitlyn until she woke up. Shrouded in grief, the two slowly formed a comforting bond caring for their loved one’s wounds, sharing memories of happier days, and reading aloud her trashy romance novels during the long days and nights. After all, Caitlyn was the only family they had left. That was reason enough to broker peace and, perhaps, become family to each other as well.

Summary
At some point, Caitlyn needed to settle the score with the wealth of pet names Vi had for her, ESPECIALLY after the mongoose comment, so she began experimenting. The words just rolled off her lips: my dear, sweetie, darling. All apt descriptions, if she did say so herself. So what if each time, Vi would stutter and stare and flush so deeply that her cheeks matched her hair? It made Caitlyn’s stomach turn into a warm pit, and she needed just the right word to get the most consistent effect from her girlfriend. Luckily, she was a woman of science, and this experiment is very humane. And although Vi may complain, she definitely would not protest. Caitlyn was sure of it.
Or, author tried really, really hard not to do a 3+1, but it was calling their name, pun intended.

Summary
Despite being an insomniac, Vi dutifully goes to bed every night with Caitlyn. However, that provides her ample time to her own thoughts, mainly if she is doing enough as a girlfriend. Such thoughts gradually morph to how much she absolutely adores her girlfriend. And although she may spend hours on end simply doing nothing but bask in the presence of her girlfriend on those lazy mornings, Vi really wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Summary

"How do you know Nonagesimus has gone somewhere dangerous?" asked Isaac. "Have you wired some kind of alert system?"
"It's, uh. It's on the schedule," said Gideon. "I just... forgot. Because of the bread."
Nobody was convinced by this, least of all Gideon.
"It's a Ninth House thing," Gideon went on, backing away with increasing desperation. This was a slightly more plausible explanation, if only because nobody wanted to look too closely at what fell under the awful skeletal-ribbed and rotting umbrella of Ninth House things. "Gotta go—!" And she was out the door, gone.
But it wasn't a Ninth House thing, except inasmuch as it was happening to the only two representatives of the noble and decrepit Ninth House on this quite literally godforsaken rock. Gideon knew Harrow had gone somewhere dangerous—knew that Harrow was back in the lab where they had only just completed a horrible trial—because she could see it, clear as day: an awful overlay on her vision of that terrible dangerous room and a pair of terrible dangerous hands drawing some kind of ward next to the plinth.
The hands were definitely Harrow's.
This was definitely a problem.
