Summary
Little collection of habits or thoughts Astarion has in freedom that came from his time in slavery. I strongly recommend you read the tags, this might not be as bad as a lot of the ‘whump’ I’ve run across but it’s definitely not good.

“Instead of being left to starve in the cages; Godey had him on his knees, hands cuffed to the floor. The tops of his feet and his ankles had begun to burn within minutes, just from his weight on them. It was strange to resent that pain, knowing it was to be the gentlest part of the ordeal. Not even an intentional affront, per say, just a byproduct of the situation.”

“Scary is another word,” Halsin says seriously, as if he understands. “But do not give into your fear, Astarion. You must pursue what interests you– what feels meaningful.”
Astarion snorts. “You make it sound so easy.”
Halsin takes a sip of ale and briefly covers the hand Astarion has resting on the table with his own. “It is not easy. But it is necessary.”

Floch looked at ease, no real emotions pouring out of him. Armin noticed how Floch’s eyes never strayed from Eren, so obedient that it could only be Eren’s request that had him in this room to begin with. He’s certain that’s it, because he wants Eren just as bad. He doesn’t know when things shifted. He can’t remember exactly when Eren stopped being careful and concerned. All he sees is greed now, nothing is ever enough for him anymore and from Armin’s perspective it looks like he’s been planning without him. Armin shakes his head nervously, covering himself with his hands as best he can. He closes his eyes because he doesn’t want to see the look of disappointed rage wash over Eren’s features. He thinks Eren has spent too much time with other people and he wants the simplicity back because Eren's appetite isn't something he thinks he can keep up with anymore.
