Summary
When a coven of witches find themselves on John Winchester's radar, they hatch a plan to distract him. Using some old, untested magic, they banish John's oldest son to Purgatory, derailing John's hunt and sending him on a wild goose-chase for his lost child that lasts for years.
Dean is twelve years old when he disappears and twenty-four when he returns from monster hell, covered in scars, with a Bible in his front pocket and a vampire on his arm. Sam has become a hunter in his absence and regularly partners with an enigmatic psychic named Castiel who immediately becomes fascinated with Dean. But although Dean's long exile is over and the brothers have finally reunited, their troubles may just be getting started.

When he tries Castiel's cooking, he can tell the potential is there, but the dishes are missing a soul, Dean offers to show Castiel the joy of cooking with passion and creativity. As they spend more time together, Castiel starts to break free from his structured life. Castiel is immediately drawn to Dean's warm energy. Dean is struck by Castiel's intensity and the paradox of his technically perfect but uninspired cooking. He begins to experiment with his cooking, and his true potential starts to shine. Along the way, he and Dean grow closer. But as Castiel discovers his true nature as an angel, he must reconcile his old life with his new one.

Meanwhile, Rowena kicks back with Sam, enjoying the drama as her own personal soap opera. But, of course, things go sideways when a supernatural hunt crashes the party, because nothing’s ever simple with the Winchesters.
