That second plate on the table... why do I even bother setting that out every night? It’s not like Saruhiko’s going to waltz into the room with that irritating little smirk of his and kiss my scowl away like he usually did every night. I’ll absentmindedly pick out the meat in my food so that he could take them if he wanted them, though.
I’ll walk into the apartment with an enthusiastic “I’m home!” if I somehow remembered that it was one of those days where Saruhiko would be home before me. And if it wasn’t, I would still call out “Welcome home!” when the time came that he would have, should have, arrived home.
I’ll mumble the words “I love you”, expecting a response in Saruhiko’s voice. I’d let my heart flutter when I imagined that yes, he had indeed just told me he loved me back.
Ah, but how’s he going to take my meat now? How’s he going to shyly mumble “Welcome back” when I come home or “I’m home” after a long day’s work, if he’s not coming home now? How can I tell him that I love him and how is he going to tell me he loves me, if we can’t see each other now?
I used to believe happiness was just around the corner. Now? Heh, what is happiness?

Yata Misaki never grew up to be the Wild Crow he always dreamed he would be. Instead, he lived a comfortable and peaceful life with his one and only (boy)friend, Fushimi Saruhiko. A victim of bullying at an early age, Misaki grew to be very timid and wary of people, and began using art as an outlet for his emotions. He doesn't see the world the way most people do - sounds turn to colors in his head in a way that allows him to see our world tinged with technicolor, and each individual has their own set of colors for their own tones of voice.
His favorite sound of all? Saruhiko's. He knows Saruhiko's voice well enough to be able to describe his emotions through them, and it's never a bad day when Misaki sees his purple fill his mind.Join Yata Misaki and Fushimi Saruhiko as we dive into Yata's life with Chromesthesia - a specific form of Synesthesia wherein a person can hear colors. Yata Misaki hears colors where people would hear sounds. He always has, and he thinks it's a pain in the ass most of the time. His subconscious likes to play with him and make everyone's 'palettes' different, and it never helps him identify a person's emotions easily.
The Slates are gone, he finds an (almost) easy job, and he's supposed to finally make amends with Fushimi Saruhiko. It's been three months, but things are still stiff between the two, and it takes a little (painful) shove to get them to talk to each other properly. -

Because of the bullying, Misaki never grew up to be a social person. The only person he had ever accepted in his life was Saruhiko, who had developed a soft spot for the quiet kid early on in their friendship. Saruhiko never made fun of the colors that only Misaki could see, nor did he ever pressure him into doing things he didn’t like. In fact, Saruhiko often let Misaki lead the way.
Misaki was a quiet person, thanks to the icy-colored voices that had surrounded him since grade school. However, Misaki was also a happy person, thanks to the only person that fully accepted him for who he was and what he had.
Or: Yata Misaki has (some form of) synesthesia, and was bullied for having it ever since he was a child. Now, years later, Saruhiko's by his side and on the verge of telling Misaki that the tinges of pink may have a deeper meaning than Misaki thinks it has.

In which Yata's manager Totsuka invites Fushimi to share the stage in his last concert of his tour, and he's forced to play nice with him until the concert's over. Yata would rather punch Fushimi in the face instead of memorize most, if not all of Fushimi's songs, but being an idol means you need to suck it up and do things for the betterment of your career. Fushimi's perfectly fine with this arrangement (heck, he's the one that made this happen), and enjoys watching Yata try to improvise throughout an entire concert.
But hey, at least he can get his feelings across to the wild crow... hopefully.

The whole king business didn't happen, though Strains exist.It’s been more than six years since Yata was able to start seeing his soulmate’s scribbles on his body. However, as his 21st birthday draws nearer and nearer, it’s becoming more and more evident that either his soulmate just does not exist, or they just don’t want to find him. He’s tried time and time again to elicit any sort of mark from his soulmate, but it’s always been in vain. He’s remembered every single time he was written something in the inside of his wrist, but to no avail. Hello? Are you there? Nothing.
Time and time again he’s tried to doodle small messages onto the insides of his wrist, not daring to venture to other areas of the body in case it would somehow get the person in trouble, but not so much as an acknowledgement was ever given to Yata. For more than six years this routine went on, but Yata had yet to give up on his soulmate.
