    Dad, still lethargic and looking a little pale and clammy, moves to sit by the edge of the bed with Percy, wrapped in his blanket. “You aren’t supposed to see me like this.”

    Percy presses another wine can into Dad’s hands and doesn’t relent until Dad takes it. “...Has this happened before? Do Castor and Pollux know?”

    Dad opens the can and takes a swig. “...Your brothers found out after a few times. But the barrier can’t fail or else the other gods would have my ass and not in a good way. I can deal with it.”

    The desperation that Percy felt earlier turns into stubborn determination. “What can I do to help?”

    Or: Thalia’s tree is poisoned and Grover is in danger. When Dionysus refuses to let Percy go on a quest to help save camp and find Grover, Percy turns to Poseidon for help.

    And the Lord of the Sea is all too happy to oblige.

    Perse was beginning to lose her mind—well, more than she already had. She'd been having the same dream every night for the last few weeks. To a normal person, that was nothing to write home about. To a demigod, it was strange but still nothing out of the ordinary. But Perse was different. Her dreams had always shown her more than most, even by demigod standards. And while they had sometimes repeated themselves, it had never this frequent. Every morning, Perse woke up with her veins burning from a poisoned tree and the smell of rotten eggs of a powerful monster clogging her nose.

    Perse realized that her repeated dream wouldn't stop, not unless she fixed the problem. The problem being, the dying tree that held the soul of Thalia Grace, Daughter of Zeus.

    But...what did Grover have to do with it?

    Percy was four years old the first time his dreams led him to his many-great-grandmother’s chambers- a woman long dead yet somehow still seated in front of him, fingers grasping at her hair tightly as she wails about a wooden horse on the beach while her servants look on in pity. He feels the weight of something ancient and heavy settle on his shoulders in that moment.

    He was in his 1st grade classroom when his teacher screamed at him for making up lies about gods and monsters and scaring the other children. He was eight when his mother's own visions become too much for her to bear.

    He's at Yancy when Grover Underwood finally finds him and says "I believe you" for the first time. And as Percy begins to feel lighter, that ancient weight that has followed him his whole life slowly dissipating, he realizes that being believed can be just as horrifying as being thought mad.

Three year old Percy witnessing this lets out an immense divine storm burning up his mortality and ascending into a godling. Poseidon who arrived moments too late realizes his once demigod son whom he could previously not be around is now a godling and alone. He immediately whisks Percy away before anyone notices to raise him in Atlantis.
