Summary
Love for Zayne is not instances of affection or moments of consideration. It is tied to everything in him like a yarn ball with each string always touching another. Every choice he makes, every aspect of his life is influenced by it. Something about how Zayne loves, all encompassing and unrepentantant, has always intimidated you. Not because you didn’t echo the depth of these feelings, but because it felt less like a human emotion and more like a universal law. Like gravity, or time, or the endless expanse of the cosmos.
Zayne’s love is like a principle of existence.

Summary
“It is my turn to beg.” The white in his eyes were blown wide, his jaw slack between her fingers in submission. “I will give you anything. My own blood, my body, my life—it is yours if you save my mother.”
Iva is a young woman whose mother is on the brink of death. A sickness is sweeping the village, and there is no cure for the dying. Desperate and unwilling to leave miracles to God's will, Iva bargains with a Vrakhir for his healing blood.

But the mountains surrounding Laslea hold many secrets, and Iva is unaware of the danger and consequences that await her.
After all, there are devils in Laslea, and they may not have fangs at all.
