Summary
It was selfish, but he's lost everything once. With the world in the palm of his hand, he was destined to have everything: Calvary Captain of the Knights of Favonius, heir to the biggest wine emporium in all of Mondstadt arguably in all of Teyvat and the pride of the Ragnvindr name. He's sure his remaining loved ones – the residents and staff at Dawn Winery – Jean – would want to see him one last time but the burden of saying goodbye, to outlive them, to bury them…
After a close encounter with the Fatui leaves Diluc as something not quite human, a demon summoned from his thirst for retribution forms a contract with him. On his sojourn to find his the one who gave his father’s fatal order, he might find that there’s a life worth living past “death”.

Summary
“How does that happen to a baby?” said Kaeya thoughtfully.
Diluc had heard the story a thousand times, growing up. “Lord Barbatos,” he said loftily, “was a guest at my christening. He blessed me with the virtue of obedience.”
Kaeya tensed up, all at once. “Wait, who?” he said hoarsely.
“Lord Barbatos, God of Freedom. He’s Mondstadt’s Archon,” said Diluc with importance. Kaeya would have to know these things, soon, which meant it was Diluc’s duty as a loyal child of Mondstadt to tell him.
“I know who he is,” said Kaeya, even though he had just asked. “Hold on—he cursed you to be like this?”
“Blessed me,” Diluc clarified, “technically speaking.”
"Fucking Archons," said Kaeya with feeling.
