Summary
Love. It was a fruitless, hopeless kind of word, unfamiliar on her tongue as all other things dripped in fondness. Such words didn't apply to Fell Beasts. Like all her siblings, in the eyes of her sire she was a nameless thing. Only worth the results she could produce, owing her life and her love to him for the curse of having been born. She'd lost track of how many siblings and half siblings she'd had at one point. So many died in the fight against the Divine Dragons. Even more were killed by Sombron himself. She too would be just another number if she couldn't do this. It was a task and then some trying to get her hands on the eleven emblem rings she'd already managed, but the last would be the trickiest. Because that was a ring in possession of the one and only remaining being Alear's father had regarded as a threat.
Lumera, the last of the Divine Dragons. Alear could do it though. She had to. After all, if she didn't...
It was so cold outside.
Or, Alear meets Lumera way earlier than in canon and learns that family is something you choose. The bonds we choose to forge transcend much farther than the ones we're born to. On a tilted axis, fate shifts.

She whirls around and points the wooden blade in his direction. “Did you come just to berate me?”
“No,” he says, eyebrows raised. “I came to train, but if you’re already here, let’s spar.”
Lysithea blinks. “Are you serious?”
“Are you afraid?”
Something in her clicks, red hot. She narrows her eyes and tightens her hold on the hilt. “No,” she says. “Are you ready?”
Felix unsheathes his sword in one long motion, graceful and practiced, as if by second nature. It cuts through the air and shines silver, clearly polished and well maintained, and for a moment Lysithea sees her own reflection in the blade. An animal, she thinks to herself, with her wide eyes and untamed hair. I look like an animal.
“Let’s go, then.”

Lysithea learns how to use a sword. The help she receives is abrasive, but she's never known how to be soft, anyway.
