Summary
Charles knows it isn’t possible—incorporeal disposition and all—but Charles dove head first into Hell and managed to blow up a demon with a Molotov cocktail less than a year ago, so with that logic it could very well be possible that Charles’ long dead heart starts to beat again. It certainly feels like it is racing out of his chest, slowly crawling up the column of his throat.
The wrongness of the haunted look in Edwin’s eyes swims in the forefront of his mind, and something in him already knows.
(Or: a new case leads them someplace far too familiar for Edwin, full of more than just ghosts.)

Summary
To his surprise, Edwin found that he quite enjoyed kissing; the intimacy was warm and pleasurable, and the act of it was fun. He and Charles had spent over thirty years getting to know each other in every other way possible, and now he got to explore a side of his partner that he had never seen before. They had both been quite taken in by the notion that this was an option now available to them, and Edwin was enjoying every moment of it.
Perhaps his time spent in the Lust layers of Hell had no effect on him, after all. Maybe his tortured mind had finally caught a break.

Edwin hums. “If my memory of assigned school readings can be trusted—and I assure you, it can be—Ovid was perhaps the closest.”
“You think so?”
“‘Dying a second time, now, there was no complaint to her husband (what, then, could she complain of, except that she had been loved?)’” Edwin quotes softly, looking over to Charles as he does. “Many authors have assumed that I–that Eurydice–would be bitter or sorrowful when Orpheus turned. Only Ovid truly grasped that she was none of those things. How can one be bitter when one is loved?”
