“It's an egg.” Ironeye corrected. Even though yes, he suspected he knew what was in it. Wylder was holding it next to him, visibly pleased at the very thought of it. Ironeye could practically see the hearts around his head. “And…yes. We woke up to it in…our bed.”
Recluse was looking at him with clear disdain. “You would go through a lady's personal effects? Especially not knowing what they are?”
The witch turned to Duchess before Ironeye could come up with an excuse. Duchess had her hands clasped together excitedly. “I'm going to be an aunt!”
Guardian, who had been silently watching the exchange, finally spoke up. “But…why an egg?”

But now, they all open their eyes in a new, unfamiliar land. To survive in this strange place is no easy feat, but these demigods have waged wars, fought gods, and conquered nations. Surely, such simple tasks as holding down a nine-to-five job or going to high school will give them no challenge at all. Surely.

Ranni will try to find Blaidd, check on Tanith, make sure Boc found his way to their friends, and many other things. And, of course, Ranni's wife is still tortured by frenzied burns. She must find a cure for that. It's a good plan, simple, and afterwards they can resume their secret journey with no regrets tying them down.
Unfortunately, the worst excesses of the golden order and the outer gods survive in a place that almost none remember. Its inhabitants are kind, and their leader seeks peace, but chaos stalks their steps. Luckily, there is one who can help Ranni! Her wife's... close friend. Melina.
