“Hi, you two. What’s that?” Sally pointed at the long trailer attached to the pickup. “It’s not more boxes, right?”
Fillmore shook his head. “Nah. Lightning had a car he wanted to bring here, but he was riding back in a different one.”
“He was also adamant he did not want or trust the car to make the trip from his apartment to here. He rented out a trailer and had us drive it back.” Sarge added.
Sally felt her face fall. “Another car?” She despaired. ”He has the 95 and whatever his daily is, how could he need another one? Even Doc only has one!”
Fillmore shook his head in pity. “I don’t know, man. Maybe this is just one of those ‘modern racer’ things Doc sometimes goes on and on about.”
“Ah,” Sally said, neutrally. Maybe there were downsides to dating a racer.
Lightning, as a race car driver, likes cars. Sally loves him enough to put up with it.
