Summary
What if Maomao never got abducted and sent to the rear palace? What if she stuck with accepting her fate in the Verdigris House as a courtesan, while still living her dream of studying medicine?
In Maomao's childhood, she grew up with her adoptive father, Luomen, and her "sisters" in the Verdigris House. Naturally, she got influenced by Luomen and got invested in poison and medicine. She'd test poisons on herself, and hunt for herbs in her free time. Though the Madam of the Verdigris would nag her about becoming a courtesan, she would ignore the comments. But at one point, she realized that it was the best decision she could make to earn money to purchase ingredients and help Luomen with rent. As Maomao guided her way through the Red Light District, she got accidentally whirled into the palace's mysteries by a sweet girl, who would be one of her best friends in the future, Xiaolan.
