The ad is for a relief lighthouse keeper. She tentatively scrolls down to look at the duties and requirements, fully expecting to find that she’s unsuited for the job.

When Ava makes the jump, she’s assuming that she’ll emerge in one of Jillian’s 1,000 rooms, or maybe in Cat’s Cradle, if she’s lucky. Instead, when she bursts through the Arc, she’s back in Adriel’s stupid fucking upside-down cake of a church, about 20 feet from where she took a lethal hit of Divinium shrapnel (totally unnecessarily, as it turns out) and almost died. There are at least two dozen people she doesn’t recognize gaping at her. It’s not what she’d hoped, to say the fucking least.
When her ears stop ringing, she hears feet pounding on cement and a broken, “Ava!” And suddenly, she’s good. Because the body hurtling toward her? That’s exactly who she’d been hoping for.
“Beatrice.”

Miss Silva sighs, dramatic and put-upon. “Alright. I suppose I wouldn’t want you to lose your stripes for the grievous crime of using my name. But if you can’t call me Ava, can you do something else for me?”
Beatrice nods, even though it’s dangerous, even though Miss Silva could ask her for anything.
Perhaps she nods because Miss Silva could ask her for anything.
“Can you think of me as Ava, just in your head?” Miss Silva requests. “Even if you never say it.”
Beatrice considers this. A truly honourable person wouldn’t agree; decorum should govern the thought as well as the action. But Beatrice is already expected to tell Miss Silva no so often that it gets harder every time, and surely this is a small enough concession that no real harm can come of it.

Or, Ava throws everything she has at chipping away Beatrice's propriety, and it only takes several years, a pirate ship, and being absolutely shameless for her to succeed.
