    Summary

    "Suho," he whispered, breath caught.

That was enough to cut short Suho's nervous monologue. Despite his heart hammering loudly in his chest, he could hear the news presenter clearly now.

"18 bodies have been recovered from the rubble since the tunnel collapsed around 10 this morning. Experts say the horrible tragedy—"

The images blurred on the screen. He couldn't breathe.

    It couldn't be.

"Tell me you’re not in that tunnel," Sieun breathed out, hollow.

OR: Sieun comes home to 87 missed calls from Suho. When he finally answers, Suho sounds like nothing is wrong—teasing and almost casual enough to be convincing. Sieun only slowly realizes that Suho isn’t on his way home, but trapped under a collapsed tunnel with a dying phone and something he has been circling around for years but never managed to say out loud.

"If something like that happened, we were wondering…what would be the best thing to do?"

    "Surviving."

He winced at his own bluntness.

Suho burst into a resounding laughter. "Yah. What are you gonna do, big boy? Fight the iceberg?"

"No," he said dryly. "I would fight everyone standing in the way to one of the boats or to that damn floating door."

"Wow, the ice princess is so cruel." The smile in his voice was audible through the phone. "You're actually the most dangerous iceberg, Sieun-ah. Not even women and children first?"

"It's you and me first, I don't care about anyone else surviving. Just you and me."

Suho's soft chuckles cut off at that.

Suho ah, todavía no puedo dormir. Mientras no puedo dormir, me pregunto cuándo despertarás... ¿

“I’d like you to write letters,” she said. “To anyone you’d like. Someone you miss, someone you’re angry with, even yourself. You don’t have to send them. Just… write what you’d want to say if you could.”

And some things, once read, can’t be taken back.
