    Link’s smile faded, leaving his lips slightly parted. His strength, his vitality, his very life seemed to plummet into an invisible chasm beneath his feet. His heart stopped beating… No. Perhaps it beat so fast and so violently that it overwhelmed him, rendering him incapable of grasping what was happening around him. His stomach churned with a hollow ache, his hands tingled, screaming silently for him to grip the hilt of his sword, while his legs struggled to assume a ready stance. His body was preparing for battle—one that was already lost.
