    "Are you fucking insane?" the figure boomed, pulling up short on the other side of the iron gate. He pulled back his hood, revealing sharp cat-like eyes and an expression of utter disbelief. "Or did you just not notice the gods-damned blizzard on the way up?"

    “I fear that judgment has yet to be made.” Jaskier does his best to shrug without disturbing the sleepy babe. “Might I come in before I freeze to death and make your front gate look terribly unfashionable?” The witcher eyed him up and down, his gaze lingering on Jaskier’s trembling legs and the sling strapped to his chest. A slow, Cheshire grin spread across his face.

    "Well, well," the guard drawled, "a human with a death wish. We don’t get many of those. What’s your business here, stranger? You’re not here to kill anyone, are you?"

    "Heavens, no!" Jaskier let out a startled laugh. "I’m far too fragile for murder. No, I’m just a humble traveler seeking shelter for the season." He squints at the back of the guard’s head, asking, “Do many visitors arrive with murderous intent? Seems perilous.”
