Bucky liked taking Steve out. He liked watching Steve through the evening. His rosy cheeks getting rosier with each drink. He liked the way Steve’s best dress shirt would unbutton throughout the night, his collar loosening with the hours. He liked the way Steve would raise his voice towards the end of the night, face beaming with the moon. He liked Steve. That was the problem.
Get-together fic set before the war. Bucky has internal conflict. Steve couldn't be more obvious.

“Why do I even bother tellin’ you what to do, you never listen to me,” Steve says with a smile, knowing the same thing could be said about him, hoping Bucky would take the bait and fight back a little. Steve loved all of their not-a-fight arguments, the sparring always had a tone to it that Steve swore was love, and it was one of the only ways he could express his true feelings without outing himself entirely.
“You gotta be shittin’ me, Stevie. I don’t listen?” Bucky takes his arm off of his face and sits up, placing his hands on the floor behind his back to support him. “ You sure as hell ain’t no obedient little boy. Summary
Steve never becomes Captain America, and Bucky never becomes the Winter Soldier. Bucky makes it back from the war in 1945 - but the fight isn't over for either of them.
With Bucky grappling with the aftermath of combat, injury, and time spent in captivity, Steve has to step up to take care of him even though he's still facing struggles of his own. As they try to make sense of this new life together, it eventually becomes impossible to avoid confronting the feelings that lie beneath - the underlying reasons why they'll do anything for each other, no matter what.

And he's so soft and rumpled, so beautiful, the creamy peach skin of his thighs, the rosy pink of his nipples through the thin fabric, the way he deliberately slows down to pass by Bucky, to brush past him, to look up at him through those lashes...
Bucky can't hide it tonight.
And Steve... doesn't seem to mind. That Bucky wants to watch him. Wants to touch him. Doesn't seem to mind that Bucky has no idea what he's doing, has never done this before. Doesn't seem to mind taking control, taking care of Bucky. Taking him apart...
