Summary
This backstory is currently part of the Seven Under One Roof canon and exists to give depth to Jake and Sunghoon’s relationship before they fully join the main story. Their history matters. It informs their closeness, their restraint, and the way they keep choosing each other in quiet ways.
I love Jake and Sunghoon, and writing this made the present-day story feel fuller and more honest. This backstory isn’t required reading and won’t disrupt the main narrative, but without it, some parts of their dynamic may raise questions that this history quietly answers.
That said, I’ve also realized that this timeline could eventually stand on its own. A version of their story without the house, without added drama from other characters, just Jake and Sunghoon growing up, finding each other, and navigating what they are to one another at their own pace. If that ever happens, it would exist as a separate, softer exploration, not a replacement, just another way of telling a story.
