Summary
As always, after the events of Priestella, Subaru lost his name to Gluttony. He was tortured, primarily by Ferris, to gain information on the Witch Cult. And after he lost his perceived use as a prisoner, he was executed.
But then his name was returned. And all hell broke loose.
Satella would return hm to the world, but only after the entire world has gone to shit. Without their holder. the Authority of Sloth and Greed were released and managed to find their way back to the Witch Cult through their 'new' holders. The Royal Camps have now been destroyed in almost every way that matters and were forced to disband officially due to the ensuing backlash after Subaru's execution. The Sword Saint has disappeared, War is everlasting, Morale is low and the Witch Cult are more active than ever. And most importantly, a star reformed after disappearing for a year.

Subaru has been kept imprisoned as the archbishop of pride for over a year (3 months without loops), he's had a lot of time to think about his relationships with his "friends" as well as what he wants out of life, none of this thinking has yielded very positive results, Subaru has lost almost all hope
Anastasia Hoshin has built herself up from an impoverished orphan to the chairwoman of the largest economic power in Kararagi, all the while repressing every traumatic memory from her times in the slums of Banan.
Both Anastasia and Subaru carry everlasting mental scars. They must either lean on each other and sooth those scars, or wilt away into madness.
