Summary
According to Barristan Selmy, before Rhaella married her brother the Mad King, she had a brief affair with Ser Bonifer Hasty (also known as Bonifer the Good; the leader of the Holy Hundred).
Due to Bonifer being considered too lowly to marry a Targaryen princess, the relationship ended and Bonifer turned pious, devoting himself to the Faith of The Seven. He apparently said that only the Maiden could replace Queen Rhaella in his heart.
This is a fic of their relationship at its end, when Rhaella learns she must marry Aerys. -
