“An exchange,” Kaname had offered, his voice neutral. “More blood, whenever you need it. More than the standard arrangement.”
Zero’s eyes had narrowed immediately. “In exchange for what?”
“This,” Kaname had said simply, sliding his hand up Zero’s thigh to rest between his legs.
The silence that followed had been profound. Zero had stared at him and Kaname had watched understanding dawn and then horror and then something more complicated. His mouth had opened to refuse, but then his gaze had dropped and his jaw had clenched and when he’d looked back up the desperation had won out.
“Just sex?” Zero had asked, barely above a whisper. “That’s all you want?”
“Yes,” Kaname had said, which had been mostly true at the time.
