Summary
“Daddy Lou?”
Louis looked up from the letter he was writing.
She stood in the doorway to his study.
“What is it?”
“…I don’t know.”
He knew that tone.
He folded the letter.
“Come here.”
She hesitated only a second before wandering over.
“I had another dream.”
“The fire?”
She nodded.
“I know it isn’t happening again.”
“I know.”
“But it still feels like it.”
Louis opened one arm.
She leaned against him without another word.
She’d insist later that she hadn’t needed comforting.
That she’d only wanted company.
For now she simply rested there, forehead against his shoulder while he rubbed slow circles across her back.
After a minute
The door creaked open.
Lestat poked his head in.
“Oh.”
His voice softened immediately.
“I was looking for my favorite fledgling.”
“I’m not here,” Claudia muttered into Louis’s coat.
“I know.”
He crossed the room quietly.
“You look miserable.”
“She had a nightmare.” louis muttered
“I gathered as much.”

Summary
“Ah, yes you are, puppy,” Dr. Abbott said sweetly, like she was talking to something small and stubborn. “But that’s okay. Because we’re going to fix that, aren’t we, Mia?”
Diana’s eyes flicked between them, wary now.
“Wh-what do you mean…?” she asked cautiously.
“Well,” Dr. Abbott murmured as she shifted slightly out of Diana’s direct line of sight, “what if we just show you?”

Summary
Dennis knew he was in trouble the second both doctors walked onto the floor together.
“Whitaker,” Dr. Robby called.
Dennis straightened instinctively. “yeah?” he said, hating how small he sounded.
Dr. Abbott smiled at him.
That was worse.
“Break room.” Dr. Robby said simply.
