The path for Mulder and Scully seems to be following a bumpy road as events of the past come to re-visit Mulder and Scully has to deal with them.
Part of the Secret Santa Fanfic Exchange which had the prompt "An early MSR moment that causes some friction in s6 (I'm a sucker for Diana angst fics) but still ends on a happy note for MSR"I hope Greekowl enjoys the story, I hope this snippet in the MSR journey is enjoyable and fits your prompt. Not written much Fowley interaction, but has meant I've re-watched a lot of season 5 lately to get inspiration which hasn't had many re-watches for me. Mind you I did enjoy writing the Scully/ Fowley angst bits, so it may appear in future fanfic!
I feel it could be a longer story... but ran out of time, so depending on the feedback some additional chapters may appear....

Summary
Having re-read the Abah series by Susan Pronto which was written when the original series was running and the way it ended I felt I wanted to revisit and know what happened afterwards. The original series has lots of MSR and Mulder Torture along the way but all good writing/ reading.
It would help to read the original series as this fiction picks up where that left.

From the events in the series he has been left deaf along with a number of other issues. This picks up with him about to enter university to retrain as a school psychologist.

Set in Winter 2017, inspired by the Barenaked Ladies song ‘Dusty Rooms’ when I first heard it I was reminded of all the rooms Mulder & Scully have stayed in over the years… the unofficial video here just reinforced it!

Summary
Picks up at the end of Brand X. I always felt that it was a bit of a disappointing end to the episode, going from near death to back at work in 2 weeks. This story picks up from Scully realising what Mulder needed, and the following recovery back to work.
Its a work in progress so Chapters will be added in due course.
It's my first fanfiction since 2001, picked them up again after Season 11, and been inspired particularly by Vickie Moseley and Susan Proto (her Abah series, I love as its a long term Mulder Recovery fic).
