The noise was amplified a shameful amount in the otherwise silent and oddly enthralled courtroom. It ran, it bounced in every corner of the room, and it curved in and out of ears. All whilst Miles choked through gritted teeth and tried not to have himself sink to the floor and cry, or to pull an obscene face of bliss.
