    Ratchet is usually pretty good about not talking about feelings. He might be even better at deflecting and avoiding emotional conversations than Drift is, keeping his wounded spark hidden behind layers of acerbic wit. So it's odd that Ratchet is being open about his feelings now. Something had changed since Drift was exiled, and Ratchet is getting dangerously close to bulldozing his way right through all of Drift’s carefully constructed walls.

    Oh, Drift thinks, sleep-soft and hazy with the slow stir of building arousal. A smile tugs on his lips even with his optics still closed. He nuzzles into the hug, burrowing his helm under the curve of a jaw and reveling in the contented sigh that it gets him. It’s been a while since they’ve had a slow morning together, and comfort like this is rare.

    It’s nice.

    More than nice, if Ratchet’s affectionate mood is anything to go by. Drift soaks it all up greedily.

    Drift was already falling apart, Ratchet could see it. But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't form words. They had already said their goodbyes. There had been plenty of time to prepare for what they both knew was coming. But now, with only moments left, Ratchet wasn't ready to go. He wasn't ready. He needed to speak to Drift. Hold his hand. Embrace him. Tell him so many things.
