You feel a migraine coming on, but it’s fine.
After all, it’s not like ‘YOU’ feel it. The throbbing behind Kris’s temples and the prisms of dancing color in their vision don’t actually affect their walking speed, or their Dark World stats, or the brilliant white SAVE points scattered around like fallen stars. In terms of status ailments, it’s nothing more than one more line of flavor text in a full chorus of one-liners still echoing from last night’s encounter.
You feel your migraine getting worse, but it’s fine.
You feel your heartbeat pulsing at the edges of your skull with every noise echoing through the Dark Sanctuary, but it’s fine. (It has to be fine.)

Summary
Xiao's heart is pumping erratically. His shoulder is burning hot, it is on fire. It hurts so bad. Don’t stop, don’t– The traveler's arm moves along his shoulder and he grabs it tighter, desperately. Don’t leave, don’t. Aether smiles at him warmly. So warm, so warm.
A brand of molten iron is being melted into his shoulder blade and his knees buck slightly underneath him. Warm, so warm, the traveler directs a confused look at Xiao until the others land on the Chamber.
You’re leaving, please don’t leave-- I can’t breathe. The traveler lets go and it is agonizing. The heat leaves, and he is cold again instantly, the chill like icy frost. I’m so cold, please come back.
Xiao shivers in the rain, staring blankly at the traveler. He turns back, grinning oh-so brightly at Xiao. “Thank you for saving me, Xiao.” It hurts, it hurts so bad. Come back.
The voices are a chill that flows from Xiao's brain all the way down his body in waves of frostbite. He's used to them, and they'll never go away. No matter what he's tried.

Summary
The eight year old Xiao is not happy with his parents’ plans to haul him off to the faraway, rural Mondstadter town of Starfell every summer until he’s dead. There’s nothing to do, and their summer cottage is too far from anything even remotely interesting enough to make it worth the trip! He’s already preparing himself for the worst summer he has ever had—and many more to come.
But then, he meets Aether, the boy next door. “Next door”, of course, entailing that he lives about a kilometer away. They quickly become best friends, inseparable if it weren’t for the force of a thousand more kilometers between them every other season.
When their lives are turned upside down within the treacherous waters of growing up, they come to find they will need each other more than ever, fearing the worst with every wave. Amidst the tumult of navigating confusion, emotions, stress, and changes that neither of them were ready for, though, something else is born—something that could either drive a wedge between them forever, or bring them closer together than ever before.
