Summary
As you’d watched Lilith discover her son’s body you’d actually felt a twinge of pity for her and the pain of her loss. The sympathy had evaporated like mist on a summer morning when you’d seen her inflicting that same grief upon Donan, forced to watch it eat the Horadrim alive, all whilst remembering Yorin’s screams as Astaroth burnt him away from the inside. You’d seen the way that Donan had begged his son’s spirit for forgiveness in Hawezar, not to leave him again. Finally you suspected that the pillar of lost souls that had just mortally wounded him had taunted him with his son’s image to lure him into striking distance.
“One boy?”
It was a question and a dismissive sneer in one. You wondered whether she was deliberately trying to make you hate her, whether it would give her power to torture you further.
“Tell me Lilith. For all the pain you claim you feel over Rathma’s murder, why was your next action to kill Donan’s son, knowing how much it would hurt?”

Summary
It was two years, three months and six days after Braega’s death that Donan cracked and wrote to Lorath.
A combination of factors contributed to his decision, the unholy alliance of sleep deprivation and too much to drink being the major contributors. His first draft had been a full confession of the mess that he found himself in, but thankfully some thread of rationality had led him to burn it before he could think about sealing and sending it. The truth was too dangerous to write about, there was no telling who might read the letter if it never reached its intended destination. He couldn’t remember the few lines that had made up his second attempt, he’d stumbled off to bed after finishing it and managed a few hours of sleep before Yorin had woken him, crying about nightmares.
By the time he thought again about the letter he’d sobered up enough to regret writing it in the first place, but when he’d gone to retrieve it and cast it into the fire with its brethren he’d found it was missing. In a rare instance of professionalism his steward had already collected his correspondence from the previous day and dispatched messengers to deliver them.

Summary
The Wanderer had only been on this side of Sanctuary for a few months, and already was beginning to suspect that no one was giving them anything resembling the full story.
No problem though, they can read, so all that’s needed is to make their own investigation, right?
It’s worked up to Firebreak Manor at least.
