Will stares at them, dumbfounded, and he barely processes the sound of a zipper closing Mike’s backpack. He runs his finger back and forth across the top one before asking: “What’re these?”
“Letters,” Mike answers softly, “The letters that I never sent to–”
“You wrote me?” Will interrupts weakly. He stares at Mike with impossibly wide eyes as he stiffly nods his head. “How come you never…?”
“I was scared.” And before Will even has the chance to question what, exactly, is so scary about sending a letter to your long-distance best friend, Mike is hurriedly saying, “Just read them, okay? I promise they’ll explain what I can’t.”

Summary
“Hey,” Will hears footsteps behind him, then a light hand settles on his shoulder. Mike gently nudges him to turn around and tilts his head up with his finger. His eyes are filled with so much sincerity. “It’s going to be okay.”
The way Mike says it, his tone so soft and genuine, almost makes Will believe him.

Summary
Mrs. Wheeler opens her mouth, closes it, then opens it back, then closes it again. Mike can clearly see her struggle to understand why the fuck he cut his hair and when she opens her mouth again he half expects the question to roll off her tongue.
“Do you want me to fix it up for you?” is what comes out instead.
Or the one where Mike cuts his hair, Karen and Mike are both at their wits end, and a certain someone makes the whole situation a bit more bearable.

“You lied,” he states blatantly. It’s not a question, it’s not something he’s unsure about. It’s a statement, a fact.

A wide smile breaks across Mike’s face and not even a moment later, Mike’s on the ground in front of him, wrapping his arms around the back of Will’s neck and his back and pulling him into a hug so tight that it makes his wounds ache, just a little.
“Holy shit,” Mike says into the crook of Will’s neck. He sounds just as breathless as Will is feeling. “Holy shit, Will.”
“Yeah,” Will laughs lightly, “Holy shit.”
