She pushed her white-rimmed, cat eye sunglasses back up to her hair and sat up to lean on her arms, pulling one knee to her chest and leaving her other leg extended. Zhou Zishu, of course, was walking straight to her. Wen Kexing narrowed her eyes, smiling like a predator sizing up the competition. The saltwater clung to Zhou Zishu’s athletic form, dripping down from the side of her neck to the purple bite mark on her collarbone, and making her want to deepen the colour, the claim, again.
“Hey beautiful, can I get your number?” Wen Kexing sweetly asked, earning herself the most dramatic eye roll Zhou Zishu could manage.
“No, I’m not interested. Please leave me alone.”

“Oh,” Wen Kexing said. It was the painkillers talking, she knew, the high dosage that had been needed to have any effect after years of careless self-medicating. The first time A-Xu regained consciousness after her operation she kissed the back of Wen Kexing’s hand and called it beautiful; the next day she said they should travel somewhere together the moment she is released from the hospital. And barely yesterday, Wen Kexing overheard it as she was telling one of the nurses that they shouldn’t mind her crazy wife (wife!) — and yes, sure, she is lucky to have her.

Summary
A random evening spent together in the Four Seasons Manor, set somewhere around episode 25, when they spend an awful lot of time flirting at night.

“I’ll come back to bed on one condition.”
“Hm?”
Zhou Zishu makes the mistake of leaning back a bit to look up at Wen Kexing and nearly loses his resolve to make any sort of demand when he meets those wide, dark eyes, so disarmingly innocent for such a dangerous man - doubly so as they shine in the cool moonlight. There’s just something about his Lao Wen that makes him want to give in in a way he never has for anyone else, but he’s determined to finally ask Wen Kexing for answers.
Or at least he is right up until Wen Kexing pairs those wide, curious eyes with a slight uptick of his eyebrows right in the middle and he’s so unfairly handsome that Zhou Zishu heaves a sigh as the last of his resolve slips out of his grasp.
“Take a bath with me afterwards,” he mutters and he can tell by the crooked tilt of his zhiji’s smirk that Wen Kexing instantly understands he’s won a battle of wills he hadn’t even known was taking place until the moment of victory.
